Tempered glass is glass that has undergone heat treatment, characterized by the formation of a compressive stress layer on the surface of the glass, which improves mechanical strength and heat resistance impact strength, and has a special fragmented state. It belongs to safety glass and is widely used in places with high mechanical strength and safety requirements. It can be used alone or as a sandwich or hollow product according to needs.
The main production process of tempered glass is to heat the regular glass of a certain size to around the glass softening point of 650 ºC to 700 ºC, and then simultaneously blow high-pressure air on both sides of the glass to rapidly cool it. Ultimately, compressive stress layers of approximately 1/6 glass thickness will be formed on both sides of the glass.
Tempered glass products have a certain probability of self explosion and breakage due to external forces during transportation, handling, or use. There is compressive stress on the surface of tempered glass, while there is tensile stress inside. Once local damage occurs due to external forces, stress release occurs, resulting in the breakage of tempered glass.
Tempered glass is very useful.
